Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information or CCTV/dash cam footage to come forward after two incidents in Middlesbrough town centre in the early hours of yesterday morning.

The first incident occurred around 1:10am when a 21-year-old man suffered injuries after a reported altercation in the 24 Hour Shop at the junctions of Linthorpe Road and Granville Road. Two males were reportedly involved before other males joined in and the victim suffered a stab wound which is not believed to be life threatening.

The second incident happened around 2:55am on Linthorpe Road outside Macy Browns Public House, whereby a 28-year-old man also suffered stab wounds in an altercation, also not believed to be life threatening.

Both men were taken to hospital for treatment.

Detectives do not believe that the two incidents are linked at this time, however, enquiries are ongoing.

Anyone with information, CCTV or dash cam footage of these incidents is asked to contact Middlesbrough CID on the non-emergency number 101.

The volunteer crew of the Redcar RNLI lifeboat have been called into action in our area at the weekend.

At around twenty past midnight on Saturday the crew assembled following reports of a man in the water.

However police resolved the incident before the lifeboats were launched, and the crew stood down at twenty to one.

Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council have announced that there will be no refuse collections this coming Friday.

Due to the various street parties and road closures which are taking place during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, the council's Waste and Recycling Team have had to make changes to their collection schedule.

However the only day that will be affected will be Friday 3rd June, when there will be no collections.

Instead, catch-up collections will take place the following week.

The Dunsdale Recycling Centre will be open as normal, and appointments can be booked via the Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council website.
