Redcar Newmarket, Town and Athletic Reserves all enjoyed victories in Teesside League action on Saturday.

In a reduced first division programme, Redcar Newmarket move into fourth above hosts Thirsk Falcons after beating them 2-1, Craig Skelton gave Newmarket the lead from the spot with Stuart Rose missing a penalty in the 43rd minute, but Josh Boynton did score a minute later to make it 1-1 at half time but in a close and evenly contested second half Harry Shaw grabbed the goal to give Newmarket a 2-1 victory. Whinney Banks YCC had to come from behind to win 5-1 at North Ormesby who took a first half lead through Eddie Hebbron, Danny Lockwood scored four times in the second half to make 29 for the season and make it 4-1 before Scott Chaplin also scored to make it a final score of 5-1 and remain the only unbeaten team through the two divisions, BEADS jump into second place after a 5-2 victory at Nunthorpe Athletic, with Karl Lilly scoring a brace to give BEADS a 2-0 lead before Anthon Able pulled it back to 2-1 at half time, Josh Simpson made it 3-1 but Charlie Brady pulled it back to 3-2 with Mark Sowerby making it 4-2before Lilly completed his hat trick.

Redcar Town remain top of the second division after a ten goal thriller, Town won 6-4 at Middleton Rangers, Rafal Kochanski gave the home side a 6th minute lead but Josh Butters made it 1-1 in the tenth minute, Stuart Poulter gave Town a 2-1 lead in the 24th minute, and Richard Playforth made it 3-1 in the 37th minute, two minutes later Kochanski made it 2-3 from the penalty spot and on the stroke of half time made it all square at 3-3 with his second penalty and his hat trick goal, two minutes into the second half Poulter with his second of the match made it 4-3 tow Town and Steve Thompson then made it 5-3 on the hour, with ten minutes remaining Kochanski with his 4th of the match pulled it back to 5-4 but in the last minute Thompson with his second of the match made it a final score of 6-4.

Redcar Athletic defeated Loftus Athletic 2-1 after Jordan Rowe gave Loftus a 30th minute half time lead, jack rose made it 1-1 seven minutes into the second half with the same player securing the victory with six minutes remaining. Boro Rangers remain in second place three points behind after a 4-0 victory at Billingham Synthonia, Dean Talukder scoring a hat trick to make it 21 for the season, Yarm lost ground but remain in third place after a surprise 3-2 defeat by Kader Andy Cole and Shane Elliott gave Kader a shock 2-0 half time lead, Ben Jones made it 3-0 twenty minutes into the second half before A jack Dalton brace pulled it back to 3-2 with eight minutes remaining, but Kader hung on to secure the victory, Billingham FC fought back from 2-1 behind at half time to win 4-3 at bottom club Guisborough Globe, Lewis Reeve and Steven Combellack gave the Globe a 2-0 lead but Josh Chambers made it 2-1 at half time, two minutes into the second half Nathan Bayes pulled it back to 2-2 but Nathan Calvert gave the Globe a 3-2 lead on the hour but goals from Shaun Laverick in the 68th minute and Andy Rowney in the 85th minute secured the Billingham the victory.

Grangetown Boys Club crashed out of the MacMillan Bowl League Cup quarter finals after suffering a shock 3-2 defeat against Great Ayton United, Isaac White and Ashly Woodier gave Ayton a 2-0 half time lead, but Daniel Maloney and Michael McGowan struck in the second half to make it 2-2 but then Mark Shinwell scored again for Ayton to send them through to play the winners of next Saturday’s Redcar Town of the second division and fellow first division side Stockton West End, in the semi-finals. Staithes Athletic joined Boro Rangers in the semi-finals of the Challenge Cup after a 3-2 victory over Scarborough side Edgehill, but both Cargo Fleet and St Mary’s College bowed out after Fleet lost 3-1 away to Colburn Town and St Mary’s crashed 5-1 at home to Ouseburn.
