Two Redcar Teesside League teams made it through to the quarter finals of major cup competitions this past weekend.

Redcar Athletic are through to the last eight of the Raine Trophy despite going behind to Guisborough Globe before winning 2-1 with two second half goals, Nathan Calvert gave the Globe a first half lead, but Kyran Clark pulled it back to 1-1 in the 5th minute and Richard Farrier scored what turned out to be the winner with ten minutes remaining.

Redcar Newmarket are through to the last eight of the MacMillan Bowl League cup after a comfortable 5-1 victory at second division Billingham Synthonia, Harry Shaw scored a hat trick to earn Newmarket a home match against BEADS, Liam Jackson and Michael Dowse also on target, James Ascough replied for Synthonia.

Grangetown Boys Club are the new leaders of the a tight first division, the Boys Club take over by one point after they won 5-0 at Lingdale with a first half goal from Daniel Maloney and second half goals from Michael Wilson a penalty, Declan Morrison, Jason Walker and Ryan Emmerson, Whinney Banks YCC who are the only unbeaten club throughout the league are second after being held to a 2-2 draw by Fishburn Park, Dave Barnes scored the opener for Whinney Banks, but James Organ-Simpson made it 1-1 but Danny Lockwood with his 21st of the season gave Whinney Banks a 2-1 half time lead, Sam Pike scored to make it 2-2 but Fishburn had a hero in goalkeeper Paul Watson, BEADS slip down to third after suffering a 2-1 defeat at New Marske Daniel Brooks gave New Marske a 30th minute lead, James Allen pulled it back to 1-1 after 68 minutes, but Luke Nicholson secured a welcome win for New Marske two minutes later, Richmond Mavericks lost 5-2 at Stockton West End and slip down to forth, Stuart Bath gave West end a 1-0 half time lead, Ben Turner and a second from Bath made it 3-0 on the hour, Richard Thompson pulled it back to 3-1 but a second from Turner made it 4-1, Alex Jamieson made it 5-1 before Sean Clark made it a final score of 5-2, Thornaby Dubliners were the days highest scorers when they won 9-1 at North Ormesby with Anton Buchan scoring a hat trick, James Hackett and Dimitri Kehi both scored a brace and Matthew Allen also scored, Michael Snaith scored the North Ormesby consolation, Thirsk Falcons beat basement club Nunthorpe Athletic 5-2 with a brace each from Chris Everingham and Liam Cook, an own goal gave the Falcons the lead, Alex brown and Josh Blakey replied for Nunthorpe and Northallerton Town playing only their sixth league game of the season move up to 10th after a 2-1 victory at Great Ayton United, Michael Steven gave Northallerton the lead after twenty minutes with David Cooke making it 2-0 a minute into the second half, Caleb White replied for Ayton.

Boro Rangers continue to lead the second division, but only on goal difference, after they had a hard fought narrow 3-2 victory over Cargo Fleet, Dean Talukder, Paul Snaith and Matthew McQueeney scored for Boro Rangers, James Myers and Sean Harland replied for Fleet, Redcar Town are second on the same number of points after a 2-1 victory over third placed Yarm, Graham Walter gave Yarm a 12th minute lead, Stuart Poulter made it 1-1 for half time, new signing Sean Mackin scored the winner with fifteen minutes remaining, Staithes Athletic could only draw 0-0 with Billingham FC who played the last twenty minutes with ten men after having a player sent off and Kader beat Middleton Rangers 4-2 to move up to tenth in the table with Matthew Mitchell opening the scoring in the first minute, Ben Jones made it 2-0 after six, Rafal Kochanski pulled it back to 2-1 which remained the j=half time score, Belio Paun made it all square at 2-2 in the 67th minute, but Andy Herbert and Simon Hudson both scored to secure the victory.

St Mary’s College bounced back from two consecutive defeats to go through to the next round of the Yorkshire Old Boys Shield after a Ben Cotts scored a hat trick in their 6-4 victory away to St Bedes FC, Jonathan Squires, Matthew Scott and substitute Tony Wilson all on target.
