The Totepool Two Year Old Trophy, first contested in 1989, was one of eight races on the racecard, which also included the Totescoop6 Guisborough Stakes and the final of the Racing UK Straight Mile Championship Series.

With the meeting taking place under the cameras of Channel 4, viewers from across the UK and Ireland tuned into what proved to be a thrilling day of racing.

The six furlong Totepool Two Year Old Trophy race - and its accompanying £206,700 prize - was won by Limato, trained by Henry Candy who is based in Wantage, Oxfordshire. The winning jockey was Graham Lee who is currently in third position in the jockeys' championship.

Aside from the intense competition on the racetrack, another equally hard fought battle - between good and evil - took place for the children.

Redcar Racecourse teamed up with local performing arts company Page2Stage to deliver a fun filled day with stories and activities. These included characters such as Sleeping Beauty and Dorothy facing up to notorious 'baddies' such as the Wicked Witch and the Joker.

General manager Amy Fair said: "The Totepool Two Year Old Trophy is always a fantastic race and it gives fans the opportunity to see the horses who could become the stars of the future. Along with Saturday's other top races, it was certainly a great way to bring an end to our feature race days for this season.

"We're already looking forward to what promises to be another bumper year at Redcar next season."

While Saturday was Redcar's last feature day of the season, there are three more regular races to come before this year's events close early next month.

Spectators can choose from a number of hospitality options, including the Dine & View package in the Crow's Nest restaurant and racegoers' packages which cover admission, racecards and food and drink.

Parties of 10 or more can also save over 20% when they book their Grandstand or Course Enclosure admission tickets in advance.
