The volunteers of the Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team were called into action in our area yesterday to assist a woman who had sustained a knee injury after falling whilst walking in Loftus Wood.

Team members carried the casualty on a rescue stretcher from the woods and across an area of farmland for approximately 700-metres, with muddy conditions underfoot making for hard going at times.

On arrival at a nearby farm the casualty was transferred to the ambulance and taken to James Cook University Hospital for treatment.

Thirteen Team Members were involved plus one other coordinating the response from home.

Police have seized cannabis worth over £100,000 and collared suspected drug dealers in a number of operations in our area.

Several arrests have been for suspected drug-dealing, as well as other offences including burglaries at licensed premises.

One man was arrested for allegedly supplying drugs in Normanby and he was subsequently recalled to prison while another was convicted of supplying drugs in the Flatts Lane area.

A further two were charged and remanded on suspicion of drug activity in the area.

Over £100,000 worth of cannabis was recovered by the neighbourhood policing team.

Police have now arrested five people in connection with an incident in Hemlington on Wednesday, where a man was in collision with a vehicle in the Cass House Road area.

A man in his 20s sustained serious injuries during the incident at around 6.30am on Wednesday.

The man was taken to hospital for treatment.

Three males aged 17, 19 and 32 and two women aged 27 and 31 have been arrested in connection with the incident.

Police believe two cars may have been involved, thought to be a silver Ford Focus and a black Lexus.

Officers want to hear from anyone who saw these vehicles in the Hemlington area around the time of the incident.

Detectives are continuing to investigate and would urge anyone who may have private CCTV or dash cam footage to get in touch, by calling them on the non-emergency number 101.
