Police carrying out enquiries in relation to an incident at Saltburn beach on Monday evening have thanked the public for their response to their appeal for witnesses and footage.

The incident took place near to the promenade when a number of people were injured by a car around 8:17pm on Monday 18th April.

Officers received reports that pedestrians on and near to the beach had been injured when a blue Audi had left the road and gone onto the beach, near to the Pier.

Two women remain at James Cook University Hospital whilst receiving treatment for serious leg injuries, and two people received minor injuries and did not need medical treatment at the scene.

A man in his 70s was arrested and released on police bail in connection with the incident.

Police are issuing a reminder after a number of garage and shed burglaries reported in the last week.

Since 15th April, police have received a higher number of reports of shed and garage burglaries right across the Force area.

There have been a high number of reports in the Redcar and Cleveland area, specfically in Guisborough, Teesville, Redcar and Dormanstown.

Various items have been reported stolen including clothing, power tools, gardening items, pedal cycles, a motorbike and other sentimental items.

A non-league football club in our area is hoping to expand with the addition of two new stands.

Redcar Town FC, which plays at the Mo Mowlam Memorial Park, off the Trunk Road, at Dormanstown, gained landlord’s consent earlier this year from Redcar and Cleveland Council for the proposed alterations.

The club has a 25-year lease with the council to use its current site and is currently ninth in Division Two of the Northern Football League.

Club officials are waiting on the outcome of a bid to the Football Stadia Improvement Fund to pay for the new stands, which will seat 50 spectators each.

Planning permission and building regulation approval will still be required for the development should it go ahead.
