Police are appealing to trace two women who helped a man at the scene of an alleged assault in Middlesbrough.

The alleged incident happened on Linthorpe Road, close to House of Fraser, around 11:45pm last Monday.

A 31-year-old man suffered serious injuries and was taken to James Cook University Hospital, where he remains in a ‘stable but poorly’ condition.

Two men, aged 30 and 32, were arrested on suspicion of section 18 assault and later charged.

Both appeared at Teesside Magistrates Court on Wednesday 23rd March and were remanded in custody.

Detectives believe that there were two women, possibly aged in their twenties, who assisted the victim at the scene and they want to speak to these women as they may be able to assist with their enquiries.

These two women, or anyone who may know their identities, are asked to contact Middlesbrough CID on the non-emergency number 101.

The volunteer crew of the Redcar RNLI lifeboat have been called into action in our area at the weekend.

Just after 9am on Saturday, the Atlantic 85 lifeboat at Redcar was launched to assist a vessel that had lost all power.

The vessel was safely towed into Hartlepool and the lifeboat crew were then able to return to the lifeboat station.
