Two men have been arrested following a report of an attempted theft in Redcar in the early hours of yesterday morning.

A report was made to police of men attempting to steal a Mitsubishi vehicle on Runswick Avenue around 1:45am yesterday.

Officers from Cleveland Police Dog Section immediately attended the scene and attempted to locate the suspects who made off in a Ford Fiesta.

The Fiesta was located abandoned close by and was found to have been reported stolen in an earlier burglary.

A search of the area led to two men being located on Kirkleatham Lane, where a knife and suspected class A and B drugs were also recovered.

Two men aged 20 and 21 were arrested on suspicion of burglary, attempted theft, possession of an offensive weapon and possession of controlled drugs.

Both men were taken into police custody.

A patient had to be taken to hospital after a collision between a car and a motorbike caused long delays.

Dozens of vehicles were at a standstill at the roundabout between the A174 and the A1042 Kirkleatham Lane.

Paramedics were called to the scene just before 3.30pm and police were also in attendance.

The North East Ambulance Service received reports of a crash between a car and a motorbike at the roundabout.

They transported one patient to James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.

Over 100 cannabis plants have been removed from a large-scale farm inside an address in Normanby.

Acting on intelligence kindly supplied by the local community, neighbourhood officers searched the house on Lambton Street, and contacted colleagues at Northern Power Grid to make the electrics safe.

Although no one was arrested at the scene, a crime report for cultivation of cannabis was recorded and inquiries are on-going.

Anyone with information which could assist is asked to contact Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101.
