Police have made three arrests after a reported assault on elderly man in Hemlington.

Three youths aged 15, 14 and 13 have been arrested on suspicion of assault in connection with a reported incident on Sunday 30th October, when a 79-year-old man suffered a head injury.

The 15-year-old remains in police custody at this time.

The two other males aged 13 and 14 have been released under investigation.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101.

The charity Crimestoppers is offering a reward of up to £1,000 for information on this case, and they can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Beyond Housing has announced they have secured additional funding to deliver the flagship Church Lane North regeneration scheme following a joint bid to Government with Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council.

As part of the Chancellor’s Autumn Budget, it was announced that £687,955 has been awarded to support the development after the Council submitted a funding application on behalf of the housing association.

The funding will come from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities.

The Church Lane North scheme aims to regenerate the estate of 291 homes in the Grangetown area.

There will be no trains to or from Middlesbrough station this weekend due to major upgrade works.

A bus replacement service will be in place between Saturday and Monday.

As part of the work carried out by National Rail, around six miles of signalling equipment will be renewed and the control of signals will be transferred from traditional signal boxes to York’s Rail Operating Centre.

This is part of a £45m project, which will see two signal boxes - one just outside of Middlesbrough Station and one near Middlesbrough Dock - demolished.

The last major work to be carried out on these signal boxes was more than 40 years ago.
