A Guisborough man has appeared in court accused of burgling a property while armed with knives.

24-year-old Levi Joel McDonald appeared at Teesside Magistrates' Court charged with aggravated burglary with intent.

He is accused of breaking into an address on Railway Terrace in Brotton in January with intent to inflict GBH upon a person and having with him weapons of offence.

The court in Middlesbrough heard how the charge he faced could only be dealt with by the crown court.

District Judge Mark Daley sent McDonald's case to Teesside Crown Court where he will appear on October 22nd.

An inquest has heard how a woman was tragically found dead at Huntcliff hours after escaping from a Teesside mental health hospital.

Pamela Jane Brown absconded from Roseberry Park Hospital on September 20, 2019 - two weeks after she was detained under the Mental Health Act.

The 57-year-old's body was sadly located at the bottom of the cliffs around five hours later.

An inquest has been resumed at Teesside Coroner's Court to determine the circumstances surrounding the Redcar civil servant's death.

Police have renewed their appeals for information following three robberies at the weekend.

The alleged incidents happened on Sunday 10th October at the Toby Carvery on Marton Road, Beechwood Convenience store and Broughton Avenue, near to The Viking Public House, Easterside.

A male is alleged to have made threats with a weapon described as a knife and has demanded money in the incidents.

A 21-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of 3 counts of robbery.

The man remains in police custody at this time and enquiries are ongoing.
