Households in Redcar and Cleveland have been warned over delays in getting their bins collected due to coronavirus isolations.

People living in the east of the borough are set to be the worst affected by the delays over the next few days.

Redcar and Cleveland Council said that the it has lost the equivalent of five waste crews and have deployed staff from other areas.

The local authority has urged residents to be "understanding" as crews will be working unfamiliar rounds.

It's been announced that the Civic Centre in Middlesbrough is set to be demolished as Middlesbrough Council plan to spend nearly £9m to move staff out of the building and across to Fountain Court next year.

Next Tuesday, the executive will be voting to spend a further £4.138m on the office relocation, taking the total spend up to £8.876m.

At the executive meeting on March 6, 2021 Fountain Court was identified as the preferred choice for the new office building and it was agreed that the council would buy the block for £1.84m.

However, the council needs a further £7.03m for the refurbishment.

Work has started on a heavy-lift quay set to transform the Tees into a major UK hub for offshore wind.

The £96m South Bank Quay will serve GE Renewable Energy's enormous blade factory - which will also begin construction within weeks at Teesworks.

At 1.2 kilometres long, the quay will have the capacity to serve up to three offshore wind manufacturers, giving "direct access" to the biggest wind farms across the world.

British firm Graham has been appointed the main contractor for the works.
