A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a Redcar man died following a serious assault in 2020.

40-year-old Mark Robinson was the victim of a serious assault at a property on Station Road on July 28th last year.

He suffered a head injury and required lengthy hospital treatment and then full-time care, until he sadly passed away on August 5th this year.

In July 2020 two men, aged 33 and 45, were arrested on suspicion of assaulting Mark.

They were both released under investigation. The 33-year-old man remains under investigation. The 45-year-old male has been released with no further action.

Yesterday a 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder.

He was interviewed and has been released on police bail.

The volunteer crew of the Redcar lifeboats have been called into action in our area.

Just before twenty to three yesterday afternoon both lifeboats were launched to assist with a multi agency rescue at Saltburn.

The casualty was transported from the accident spot to the beach by Redcar's D class lifeboat.

Police have recovered a suspected stolen vehicle and arrested the occupants in Middlesbrough.

On Tuesday evening, officers spotted the white Hyundai i30, which had been reported stolen in a burglary in Coulby Newham the previous day, on Metz Bridge after reports of the vehicle being driven erratically.

The vehicle was stopped near to Aldi on Newport Road, where the 42-year-old male driver and a 34-year-old female passenger were arrested in connection with the incident.

Both were taken into police custody.
