Emergency services have once again been called to Hemlington after a previous night of vandalism and attacks.

Police and fire crews were called out again at around 7.45pm last night to reports of youths congregating again on Cass House Road.

Several were said to be seen dragging items such as sofas and wheelie bins together for a blaze.

Fire crews could be later seen dousing a sofa which had been set alight in the street.

On Wednesday evening emergency services workers came under attack as they attended a string of deliberate fires along the same stretch of road.

A mobile Covid testing unit is to be deployed at an East Cleveland school following a number of positive cases.

The testing unit will be on site at Hummersea Primary School in Loftus from today to offer a PCR test to all pupils in Years 1-6 and their family members, and also to staff at the school.

Testing will be voluntary and the school has contacted the parents of pupils to explain the reasons for the testing and to encourage them to take part.

Anyone testing positive will be required to self-isolate for 10 days.

The Council worked with the Department of Health and Social Care to arrange the mobile testing unit.

Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council have apologised after blue bins weren't emptied in Guisborough yesterday.

Blue bin waste from Monkton Rise Estate and Galley Hill Estate in Guisborough could not be collected.

However bins which weren’t collected yesterday will be collected today instead.

If your blue bin has not been emptied, please make sure it is back out by 7am tomorrow so we can catch up.

The council has apologised for any inconvenience – and say that they are doing everything they can to collect recycling waste.
