A major road in our area faced rush hour delays following an incident involving a lorry.

Delays were reported on the A66 westbound between Whitworth Road and Old Station Road in South Bank yesterday afternoon, after a lorry detached from a trailer, causing a large obstruction.

A photograph was posted on social media showing the lorry trailer obstructing the road with cars lining up in front.

It is not yet known if there have been any injuries as a result of the incident.

The trailer was seen being driven away with police then clearing the area shortly after 5pm.

 

It's been announced that steelmaking facilities at the former Redcar Steelworks are set to be demolished next week.

With demolition work on the blast furnace and major steelmaking structures scheduled to begin on Monday, the Teesworks Heritage Taskforce has revealed its plans to celebrate the history of the site.

A collection of items from the Coke Ovens, Sinter Plant, Blast Furnace, Steelmaking Plant and maintenance workshops will be removed carefully and safely stored ahead of the demolition work.

Videos, 3D modelling, and photos will also be used to celebrate the heritage of the former Redcar Steelworks site and will also serve as an inspiration to its transformation and future development.

 

Members of the public are being warned to be vigilant following reports that loan sharks operating in our borough.
