Emergency services were called to Saltburn Bank yesterday after a cyclist fell from her bike.

Two ambulances attended the scene around half past midday yesterday and stretchered a woman off the road.

She is not believed to have been seriously injured.

Coastguard crews also helped out at the scene and directed traffic while paramedics dealt with the casualty.

The volunteer crew of the Redcar RNLI lifeboats were called into action in our area yesterday following reports of a person trapped by the tide.

Both lifeboats were launched shortly after 11am yesterday to search for a person reported to be trapped at the foot of Huntcliffe at Saltburn.

The lifeboats carried out an area search but nothing was found and the lifeboats were stood down.

The incident has been classed as a false alarm but with good intention.

Police are appealing for information after an attempted robbery in Middlesbrough.

A woman was waiting for a bus outside the Cleveland Hotel on Linthorpe Road at quarter to four on Sunday afternoon when a man tried to grab her handbag from her.

She pulled him into the road and other members of the public intervened, at which point the man ran off towards Chipchase Road.

The lady, who is in her 40s, was left shaken but physically uninjured.

The suspect is described as white, in his 30s wearing a white t-shirt and brown trousers.

Any witnesses or anyone with information is asked to contact Middlesbrough CID via the non-emergency number 101.
