The council has confirmed that legal notices were served at an unauthorised encampment in Redcar yesterday.

They say that their officers will continue to work with everyone concerned to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

Police and the ambulance service were called to the scene known locally as the 'white bridge' in Berwick Hills just after 8.30 yesterday evening.

Cleveland Police were seen blocking the entrance to the footbridge.

Paramedics also attended the scene, near Belle Vue Grove, and dispatched four crews.

Train services between Middlesbrough and James Cook University Hospital were affected.
