A 30 year old man who was wanted by police in connection with an incident where an officer was reportedly assaulted with a knife has been located and arrested following a public appeal.
The man was arrested yesterday and taken into police custody.
The arrest follows an incident on Saturday night where a Cleveland Police officer was allegedly punched to the ground and pinned down by two men while the man who had punched him held a knife to his throat and cut it while making threats.
Officers have thanked members of the public who assisted with the appeal to trace the suspect.
Two vehicles have been seized by the Redcar Town neighbourhood policing team officers in the last few days.
A Ford Focus was stopped on Lobster Road on Thursday afternoon after officers had seen it being driven in Dormanstown and a man is being dealt with for no insurance.
A BMW was recovered on Egglestone Road in the town yesterday teatime after officers checked the driver who is now being dealt with for document offences including no insurance.
A £4million funding boost to help expand a major industrial estate, paving the way for a further £15.7million of business investment, has taken a big step forward.
In the first phase of the project, Redcar's Skippers Lane Industrial Estate would be extended by almost eight acres to the east of the current site, with a new roundabout at the existing Skipper's Lane and Sotherby Road junction, plus a new road for highways access on to the site. Further works would also unlock an extra 20 acres of land for future development again to the east of the site.
Eight new units will be built, totalling 86,500sq ft of floorspace and capable of supporting 134 jobs, with interest already being shown in half of this newly developed area.
