A raft of ambitious proposals totalling nearly £40m have been submitted to Government by Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council, to help deliver major capital regeneration projects across the area.

The two bids to Government include bids to redevelop Redcar central station, Guisborough town centre, new leisure facilities in Eston, and many other local projects.

Around £600m is being released by Government in the first round of funding from an overall pot of £4.8bn.

All bids for the first round of funding had to be submitted by yesterday with the decision likely to be made on the bids in the autumn.

Residents of Newton-under-Roseberry are welcoming new restrictions on parking, which are to be enforced on the A173 – which is the road that passes beneath local landmark, Roseberry Topping.

Increases in roadside parking have shot up since 2020, causing both safety and access concerns for residents and road users alike.

Through-traffic is being regularly brought to a standstill by the lack of passing space caused by parked vehicles and pedestrians making their way along the main road itself.

To combat this potentially dangerous situation and relieve stress on residents, a “No Waiting at Any Time” double yellow lines restriction will be in put in place along the length of the A173, from the North Yorkshire boundary to the northern side of the village.

The plans are expected to come into force from Monday.

Police are appealing for information following a collision involving a white Audi and a red Ssangyong on the Trunk Road, close to the entrance to the Cleveland Retail Park.

The collision occurred last Saturday, the 12th June, at around 5:40pm.

Cleveland Fire Brigade personnel assisted with the collision and the two female drivers suffered minor injuries.

Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision or anyone with dash cam footage to contact Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101.
