Redcar town centre is set to be transformed with major changes to the town centre after the Government today announced it will be awarding £25 million to make detailed proposals for the town a reality.

The plans were devised by Redcar Town Board who applied for £25 million which was the maximum allowed and has been awarded in full.

The Board and others will now decide which exciting projects to develop and consider other sources of funding.

Redcar was among 101 towns selected by the Government to agree a deal from the Government's £3.6 billion Towns Fund.

The Town Board was established to come up with sustainable plans and representatives from across the community including businesses and the private sector got involved.

There will now be discussions on how to proceed with a number of proposals for new attractions in the town.

Police are appealing for information after a report of burglary at a farm in Guisborough.

Police received a report of an ongoing break-in at a farm off Wilton Lane shortly before midnight on Sunday 6th June.

The suspects are believed to have stolen a quad bike and made off in a silver Volkswagen Passat.

Officers later found the Passat abandoned and the occupants had made off.

Dog unit officers attended the scene and searched a wooded area towards Eston Nab.

Four men were later arrested on suspicion of burglary and were taken into police custody.

The quad bike was later recovered and returned to the victim.

Anyone who may have information is asked to contact police on the non-emergency number 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
