Four men who were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a shooting in Hemlington have been been released on bail.

A man in his 30s was taken to hospital on Bank Holiday Monday evening after suffering gunshot wounds on Arrandale.

The small cul de sac and surrounding roads were quickly cordoned off as emergency services were called to the area.

A car was also cordoned off and a chair remained in the street where the injured man received treatment as scenes of crime officers began their investigation.

The men arrested and bailed with conditions are aged 53, 36, and two are aged 30.

A large whale that washed up onto the beach at Redcar yesterday has now been removed.

The minke whale was spotted by a morning walker near to South Gare and experts were called to check it over.

Sadly, the juvenile female whale was deceased and Redcar & Cleveland Council were contacted to remove it.

The North Sea is the natural habitat for this type of whale and it’s not unusual for them to come close to the shore.

The Redcar Coastguard Rescue team have been called into action in our area.

Just after 1.15pm on Tuesday the Redcar team were tasked by the Humber operations room at Bridlington to reports of a missing person in the Saltburn pier area.

However the team was stood down on route as the person had been located safely.

The public are reminded that if you see anyone in trouble on the beach or cliffs you should dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
