Police have thanked members of the public for providing information which lead to the discovery of a large drugs farm in East Cleveland.

On Friday the cannabis farm was located in East Crescent in Loftus.

Officers say that this was as a direct result of information given to them by members of the local community.

Police say that the value of this farm, had it grown to its full potential, was estimated to be in the region of £100,000.

If you suspect drugs activity near to your home, you can contact Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101.

Firefighters have spent almost four hours tackling a fire at a farm in East Cleveland.

The fire ripped through a building at the site between Redcar and New Marske at around twenty to midnight on Thursday.

Four crews from Grangetown, Middlesbrough and Redcar stations were called to the scene at Grewgrass Farm, on Grewgrass Lane.

Crews used four jets and four breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire as well as a hydraulic platform jet.

No one was injured in the blaze.

Fire crews were called to the same site last October after a blaze broke out in a barn.

A week of outdoor activity and support tools will be on offer throughout Redcar and Cleveland this week, as our area 'bounces back with nature' in support of mental health awareness week which is taking place this week.

Zetland FM's Stuart Clarkson reports:

"Throughout the week, the Council together with its partners, will be promoting mental wellbeing with residents able to book on a range of free outdoor activities, ranging from nature trails to guided cycle rides and art in the park through to caring for garden wildlife and wild herbs for wellbeing.

The theme for mental health awareness week this year is nature which was chosen by the Mental Health Foundation because it is known to be an effective way of tackling mental health problems and protecting our wellbeing.

To find out more about the week and book on to events please visit the Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council Facebook page."
