Police are issuing crime prevention advice after a number of recent airbag thefts in the Eston area.

Three incidents were reported on Tuesday and Wednesday this week.

Replacement airbags can cost up to £1,000, depending on the make of the vehicle, and some thieves can take just 6-8 minutes to get into a vehicle and remove the airbag.

Police are advising drivers to be vigilant, as some occasions, people have not known that their airbag has been stolen unless they have been involved in a collision.

Anyone who may have information regarding these incidents is asked to contact Cleveland Police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Emergency services were called to the incident on Ayresome Street on Thursday night.

The road was reportedly closed following the crash, involving a blue BMW and a grey BMW, at around 9.50pm.

Cleveland Police and Cleveland Fire Brigade attended the road traffic incident.
