The number of coronavirus cases on Teesside is continuing to fall, with 73 new cases recorded in the latest 24 hour period.
Although weekend figures can be lower due to delays in reporting, the latest total is less than half the 152 new cases recorded last Sunday.
The biggest daily rise in cases was in Stockton, where 32 positive tests were recorded, whilst in Middlesbrough there were a further 25.
Here in Redcar and Cleveland there were a further eight new cases.
Two local MPs have told the UK's Vaccine Minister that Middlesbrough FC's Riverside Stadium or Redcar Racecourse should become mass vaccination centres.
MP for Redcar, Jacob Young, and Simon Clarke, MP for Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland, have written to the minister, Nadhim Zahawi, proposing the two sites as potential mass vaccination centres.
In the letter, the MP's say that the closest Mass Vaccination Centre is in Sunderland, which is more than 40 miles away and is presenting a challenge in encouraging take-up.
Both the Riverside Stadium, in Middlesbrough, and the Redcar Racecourse site have previously been used as Covid-19 testing sites.
The Redcar Coastguard Rescue Team were called into action in our area at the weekend.
Just after 9pm on Saturday both Redcar and Staithes Coastguard teams were tasked by the Humber operations room at Bridlington to an incident on Huntcliff in Saltburn.
Both teams were stood down on arrival as the incident had been resolved by Cleveland Police.
The public are reminded that if you see anyone in trouble on the beach or cliffs you should dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
