The latest figures show that there have been another 259 new Covid-19 infections on Teesside.

The highest number of infections is in Stockton, where 84 new cases were recorded.

In Stockton there have been 80 new cases, whilst here in Redcar and Cleveland there have been a further 47.

But due to the way cases are recorded there is often a lag in reporting numbers, meaning that figures at weekends tend to be much lower than weekdays.

The sudden death of a woman has been confirmed following an incident in Dormanstown.

Cleveland Police and the North East Ambulance Service were called to a 'sudden death' at Park Court at 5.20pm on Saturday.

An investigation has taken place into circumstances surrounding the death, and it is not being treated as suspicious.

Police have also confirmed that no arrests have been made and no-one else was injured.

The case will now be passed to the coroner.

Nine suspected illegal immigrants were found hidden inside a shipping container at Teesport on Saturday night, authorities have confirmed.

A large scale emergency services operation was seen heading to the river just after 8pm on Saturday.

Border Force officers - alongside the ambulance service - responded, after a call for assistance from Tees Harbour Police.

Six males and three females, who claimed to be Eritrean nationals, were found inside a dockside container, which had come from Zeebrugge in Belgium.

The individuals were processed by Border Force and their cases will be dealt with in accordance with immigration rules, the Home Office said.

Several ambulance vehicles were also seen entering the area, however it is understood that nobody required hospital treatment.
