Almost 500 people have tested positive for coronavirus on Teesside in the past 24 hours.

According to the data released by Public Health England yesterday, the highest rises of new covid infections were in Stockton and Hartlepool, with 176 and 127 cases respectively.

In Middlesbrough there were 91 new confirmed cases, whilst here in Redcar and Cleveland there were a further 99.

Two people were taken to hospital yesterday after their car hit a tree outside a pub in Guisborough.

The driver had to be cut free from the vehicle after the crash outside the Voyager pub, at the junction of Stokesley Road and The Avenue.

Both he and the passenger suffered chest injuries and were taken to hospital by ambulance.

Fire brigade crews from Redcar and Guisborough fire stations attended the scene.

Police are appealing for information after three motorbikes were stolen from a storage unit in our area.

The incident occurred on Tod Point Road in Warrenby at 2:30am on Friday and three motorbikes were stolen including a black Honda, a red Honda and a yellow Suzuki.

It is believed the people responsible arrived at the address on a large ‘farm style’ quad bike prior to them stealing the motorbikes.

Officers are asking for anyone with private CCTV or anyone who may have been offered the stolen bikes for sale to contact Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
