Another 368 cases of coronavirus and six deaths have been recorded on Teesside;
Police are appealing for witnesses after an assault on a taxi driver in Middlesbrough;
...and Police have arrested a man after a number of suspected drugs and items were seized from a property in Coulby Newham.
Another 368 cases of coronavirus and six deaths have been recorded on Teesside.
The highest increase in cases, recorded by Public Health England, was in Middlesbrough, where another 117 people in the town have contracted Covid-19.
Stockton was not far behind with an additional 104 positive cases, whilst here in Redcar and Cleveland there were an additional 65.
Police are appealing for witnesses after an assault on a taxi driver in Middlesbrough.
The incident happened around 4:45am on Monday on Marton Grove Road in the town.
Two men had been passengers in the taxi. As the men got out of the taxi, one proceeded to punch the driver multiple times in the head and face. This left the victim with a split lip and ear and bruising to the head and face.
The suspect then made off from the scene.
The suspect is described as a white male, aged 25-30 years old, of medium build and around 5ft 6” tall.
Nothing was stolen in the incident.

Police have arrested a man after a number of suspected drugs and items were seized from a property in Coulby Newham.
Officers from Coulby Newham Neighbourhood Policing Team executed a warrant at an address on Hedingham Close on Monday evening.
A quantity of suspected class B and C drugs were seized, along with cash, a lock knife and some designer clothing.
A 31-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class B and C drugs and handling stolen goods.
The man was released under investigation pending further enquiries.
