The latest figures show that 139 new Covid-19 cases have been confirmed on Teesside in the past 24 hours.

According to data released by Public Health England yesterday, Middlesbrough recorded the highest number of cases with 43, whilst in Stockton there were a further 40.

Here in Redcar and Cleveland there were a further 25 new confirmed cases.

A pilot scheme aimed at reducing the spread of Covid-19 starts in our area today.

The pilot of lateral flow tests, which produce results in around 30 minutes, will be launching at Grangetown United Community Hub from today.

The pilot aims to reduce the spread of Covid-19 by identifying residents who are positive but who do not display any symptoms.

About one in three people who have coronavirus have no symptoms and will be spreading it without realising.

Testing will be supported by Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council staff.

Police are asking for the public's help after reports of two burglaries at Well Pharmacy on Westgate in Guisborough.

The two incidents occurred during the early hours of Sunday 29th November and Friday 4th December.

A substantial amount of perfume and aftershave was stolen, including leading brands and designer names.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incidents, has information or may have been offered the items for sale is asked to contact Cleveland Police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
