A total of 335 more people have been confirmed to have contracted coronavirus on Teesside.

Government figures, released on Monday, show that the biggest increase in cases has been in Middlesbrough.

They reported 108 more people have tested positive for Covid-19 in the town.

Stockton has also recorded another 92 cases of the virus.

Here in Redcar and Cleveland there have been 87 new confirmed cases.

 

A man has appeared in court charged with possession with intent to supply a Class A drug.

It comes after police were contacted by our ambulance service colleagues who were at an address on Southfield Road in Middlesbrough in the early hours of Sunday morning.  

Officers found a large quantity of suspected heroin, believed to be worth around £24,000.

A 52 year old man was arrested and interviewed, then charged and remanded to appear at Teesside Magistrates Court yesterday morning.

 

A man has been left needing hospital treatment for injuries to his face and body following a late night assault in a residential area of Middlesbrough.

Police have appealed for witnesses to the incident which occurred near Ainstable Road in Ormesby.

The victim, in his 20s, has reported being assaulted by three men on the night of Wednesday, October 28 between 10.30pm and 11.30pm.

An appeal has been made for CCTV or dashcam footage from the area at the time.
