The number of people who have contracted coronavirus on Teesside has yet again shown an increase.
Latest figures show a rise of 290 cases yesterday, amidst reports that Middlesbrough could be moved up to Tier 3 local lockdown.
The highest rise came in Stockton which saw 103 new confirmed tests.
In Middlesbrough there were 85 more cases, whilst here in Redcar and Cleveland there were a further 42.
Two adults and a child have been rescued by firefighters after a blaze engulfed two houses in Middlesbrough.
The fire spread along the roof space in two terraced houses on the corner of Crescent Road and Kildare Street.
The incident occurred at around 3am on Wednesday, causing a large amount of damage to the roof on both sides of the properties.
Cleveland Police have confirmed that a man, woman and baby were evacuated from the properties.
Police have seized nearly 70 bags of suspected drugs from a man in Middlesbrough.
Officers from Middlesbrough Neighbourhood Policing Team arrested the 19 year old on Wednesday after stopping and searching him in the Newport area.
68 bags of suspected class A drugs and one bag of suspected class B drugs were reportedly seized.
He was arrested on suspicion of drugs offences and has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
