78 more new cases of Covid-19 have been reported on Teesside in the past 24 hours.

The highest number of those were in Middlesbrough, where 28 new cases were recorded.

In Stockton the figure increased by 19, whilst here in Redcar and Cleveland the figure was up by 15.

Hartlepool saw an increase of 16 cases.

The detective leading the case of missing Steven Clark says that he has received significant information into the inquiry.

A potential witness has come forward to report seeing Steven on Monday 28th December 1992 in the late afternoon.

The woman was out with her family and has reported that Steven passed them as they were walking on the High Street towards Marske square. The man, believed to be Steven, was walking in the opposite direction towards The Ship Inn whilst it was still daylight.

After seeing the appeal for Steven in 1992 the woman confirmed with her family that it was Steven who they had seen, but did not think it was relevant to the case at that time.

The report has been made to police as a result of a newly launched murder investigation into Steven’s disappearance, as she felt the information was now significant.

Two people have been arrested on suspicion of Steven's murder and have been released on bail pending further investigation.

Anyone with information can call Cleveland Police on the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

A 29-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of seven offences following an incident in Redcar on Tuesday morning.

Officers received a report that a man was reportedly driving a silver Seat Ibiza dangerously in the area.

Officers attended the scene and the driver of the vehicle reportedly rammed into a police vehicle several times and then assaulted a police officer whilst he was being arrested.

Police searched the vehicle following the arrest and a weapon was recovered from the car.

The man currently remains in custody whilst enquiries continue.
