A man is understood to have died after being pulled from the sea in Redcar yesterday.
Coastguard and RNLI rescue teams were called out to reports of a person in the water off South Gare just after 4.40pm.
It's believed that members of the public had raised the alarm, and managed to get the man from the water with the help of Cleveland Police officers.
A witness said that rescuers attempted to resuscitate the man at the scene, but it's understood he was pronounced dead shortly after.
A man has been tasered by police after a woman was found with stab wounds.
Armed police officers were called to Ryhill Walk in Overfields, Ormesby at around 11.30am yesterday morning after receiving reports that a woman had been injured.
They were told that a man was inside a home threatening to harm himself with a knife.
Officers, including armed response teams, attended the scene, and found a woman with non-life threatening injuries consistent with stab wounds.
She was taken to hospital by ambulance and has since been discharged.
Officers engaged with the man inside the house and a Taser was used to bring the incident to a safe conclusion.
A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of Section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent, and taken into custody for questioning.
The volunteers from the Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team were called into action in our area over the weekend.
On Friday and Saturday the team were involved in the search for a missing man in the Kettleness area.
The search conditions were made worse owing to high winds, heavy sideways rain plus hail at times.
After covering the additional areas requested by the Police the team were stood-down.
Police enquiries to trace the man continue.
