The total number of reported Coronavirus cases in our area has once again shown an increase since yesterday, according to official figures;
The driver and passenger from a motorbike are in hospital following a crash which closed a Middlesbrough road;
...and there have been long queues at Dunsdale tip as it reopened for the first time since lockdown.
The total number of reported Coronavirus cases in our area has once again shown an increase since yesterday, according to official figures.
According to the latest figures published yesterday by Public Health England, there have now been 345 confirmed Coronavirus cases in Redcar and Cleveland, out of a local population of just under 137,000 people.
That compares to 337 cases yesterday.
There are currently 600 cases confirmed in Middlesbrough, that's another increase, up from 589 cases yesterday.
The driver and passenger from a motorbike are in hospital following a crash which closed a Middlesbrough road.
The crash, involving a motorbike and a car, saw six police cars attend just after midday yesterday.
It happened at the junction of Longlands Road and Ormesby Road, near to The Buccaneer pub.
One of the causalities was flown by the Great North Air Ambulance from the scene to James Cook University Hospital.
A fourth person was treated at the crash site by ambulance crews before being discharged at the scene.
The other two were taken by to hospital by ambulance.
There have been long queues at Dunsdale tip as it reopened for the first time since lockdown.
Traffic was building up before the Household Waste and Recycling Centre opened at 7am yesterday, with motorists describing it as "mayhem".
But by mid-morning, the initial rush had disappeared.
Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council said that wait times of up to 90 minutes were expected, and the authority advised motorists to avoid using Redcar Road altogether.
Restrictions have been placed on who will be admitted, including no vans and permit holders for the first seven days.
