The air ambulance landed following an accident on a busy Middlesbrough town centre road.

The crash happened on Borough Road just after 1pm on Wednesday.

Emergency services, including police and the North East Ambulance Service, were called to the scene.

The air ambulance landed on Pearl Street. A spokeswoman from the Great North Air Ambulance Service said they were called at 1.05pm to attend the scene of the accident.

They landed at 1.12pm in order to assist at the scene.

It's been announced that the first flights from Teesside to Alicante for nine years will take off this summer.

From July 17, flights will run twice a week between Teesside International Airport and the Spanish city, on the massively popular Costa Blanca.

The new Spanish route was revealed by Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen and Eastern Airways’ managing director Tony Burgess at Middlesbrough FC's Riverside Stadium, ahead of the club’s match with Leeds United.

Princess Anne was in our area yesterday.

The Princess Royal met staff and residents while officially opening The Meadowgate Intermediate Care Centre in Eston.

She also met representatives from Redcar and Cleveland Council during her tour of the facilities.

The 40-bed care centre, which has undergone a £5m makeover, provides therapy-led care and support to residents. It was designed to unblock hospital beds and help patients recover and regain independence.
