Calls have been made for a "serious review" of the council's IT systems after its website was brought down by what is believed to be a cyber attack.

Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council's website has been down since Saturday morning.

However the authority says there is "no evidence" any personal data had been lost and says it is investigating the issue.

It says they are currently working to resolve the issues as quickly as possible.

Police are appealing for witnesses following an attempted robbery in Middlesbrough.

The incident occurred on Faraday Street in the town at around 11:40pm on Sunday 2nd February.

It was reported that an unknown male approached the 76-year-old victim on a pedal bike and attempted to take belongings from his pockets.

During the incident the victim suffered facial injuries as a result of falling to the floor.

He attended James Cook University Hospital and has since been released.

Officers are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or has any information to contact DC Brian Lightowler on the non-emergency number 101.

Plane spotters could be in for a rare treat over the next few weeks, after RAF Leeming announced a special "exercise" in the skies over our area.

The RAF station says there will be "increased movement" involving "various aircraft including jets", starting from Thursday.

Low flying for short periods may be necessary, along with "some exercising at night".

A spokesperson for RAF Leeming said that every effort will be made to keep the disturbance to a minimum.
