Storm Ciara hit Teesside at the weekend with a flood warning issued for the River Tees.

The Met Office issued a yellow weather for the North East, including Teesside with gusts of up to 50mph .

Travel was disrupted across Teesside and North Yorkshire , with delays and cancellations to air, ferry and train services as well as damage to buildings.

Forecasters warned of a potential danger to life from flying debris and strong waves on the coast.

 

Firefighters have been busy at the weekend tackling a blaze on Eston Hills.

Cleveland Fire Brigade said an appliance from Grangetown was called at 3.50pm on Saturday.

The crews then called for assistance for a second crew from the station.

An onlooker said it appears the flames are being spread by the high winds.

Plumes of smoke could be seen coming from the fire on the hills which are regularly plagued by fire and vandals.

 

Plans for a clifftop 'destination' restaurant at Saltburn have been altered - but not everyone is happy about the scheme.

Developer Oleos Leisure wants to build a contemporary venue at an unused look-out, known locally as the 'White Elephant'.

The ambitious scheme, built out from the cliff-face, would boast split-level decked terraces leading down towards the sea and a single-storey structure on the upper prom.
