Neighbourhood Police Officers have seized yet another off-road bike which was causing a nuisance to residents and road users in our area.

The red and black Honda motorbike was being ridden in an anti-social manner around the Kirkleatham ward area of Redcar yesterday.

Officers seized the bike using police powers as part of Operation Endurance, and are encouraging residents to come forward with any information they have in relation to illegal bikes.

A selective licensing scheme for an area of South Bank has been such a success it is to be extended.

The scheme for private sector landlords in the town was first introduced in 2013 and is designed to reduce crime and antisocial behaviour.

Under the scheme landlords must pass a 'fit and proper person test', manage properties effectively and homes must meet strict licence conditions.

Failure to obtain a licence is a criminal offence and could result in a fine of up to £30,000.

Since the scheme was introduced in 2013 there has been a 29% reduction in the number of empty properties and a 7.3% reduction in antisocial behaviour. The number of criminal offences fell by more than 36% and acts of criminal damage fell by almost 53%.

The selected licensing designation will be in force until 2024.

The recently refurbished Saltburn Cliff Tramway has been nominated for a prestigious accolade.

Assessors from national tourism body, VisitEngland gave the attraction an 86% quality score, an increase of 5% since the last inspection in July 2017.

Members of staff were singled out for special praise and received a 98% rating.

And if you thinking of visiting the cliff tramway, you may meet a rather famous visitor.

Santa himself is visiting the cliff lift today and will have a tramway grotto with access from the bottom station of the Promenade later today.
