Cleveland Police have continued their drink drive campaign continues across the area at the weekend.

Yesterday morning officers were at Grangetown, stopping motorists on the Trunk Road.

More than 200 motorists were stopped, with 8 drivers producing breath readings which were over the limit.

During the roadside checks, a male was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving blowing nearly double at the roadside. He was tested in custody producing a higher level and charged to attend magistrates court at a later date.

Another vehicle stopped during the checks was found to have a defective tyre and the driver was reported for the offence.

Festive tips to prevent residents and businesses having a rubbish Christmas are being posted by Cleveland Fire Brigade.

The seasonal safety messages are a reminder not to make wheelie bins and refuse containers a target for arson attacks and deliberate fires.

They are featured in two short 30 second animated videos made for YouTube that will be pushed out via digital channels including social media.

Cleveland Fire Brigade are urging people to share the films and will crews will be following up with a wheelie bin sticker campaign in the New Year.

Nominations are being invited for inspirational women in our area.
