The volunteer crews from the Redcar RNLI lifeboats were called into action yesterday.

Just after 1pm yesterday both lifeboats were launched from Redcar to rescue two people cut off by the tide at the base of Huntcliff at Saltburn.

The man and woman were collecting geological samples when they found themselves cut off by the rising tide.

They were rescued wet but otherwise unharmed and landed at the Ship Inn slipway at Saltburn.

A silhouette sculpture of a First World War soldier is being taken around cenotaphs in Redcar and Cleveland as part of the build up to Remembrance Sunday.

Chairman of the Redcar branch of the Royal British Legion, Eric Howden BEM, is taking the sculpture to 21 cenotaphs.

It's just one of a number of special events in our area taking place leading up to and including Remembrance Sunday, which marks 100 years since the end of First World War.

There will be wreath laying ceremonies, parades and readings at cenotaphs and some schools across the borough.

A volunteer at a local football team is celebrating after receiving a top award.

Graham Todd, who is a volunteer with Redcar Town Football Club, was presented with the 2018 FA and McDonald's Volunteer of the Year Award before the team's Senior County Cup clash with Scarborough Athletic FC on Tuesday evening.

Speaking to Zetland FM, Graham explained what the award meant to him.
