Officers are appealing for information after a collision between a motorcycle and a car in Middlesbrough last week.

The incident happened at 5.10pm last Thursday the 25th October when the Nissan Pulsar, which was being driven by a 43 year old woman, entered Park Vale Road from Lothian Road.

The motorcycle had been travelling on Park Vale Road towards Grove Hill and it collided with the rear of the Nissan.

The 21 year old man riding the motorcycle was taken to James Cook University Hospital where he received treatment for fractures to both hands, and bruising to his arms and legs. He was subsequently released.

Anyone who saw the collision is asked to contact Sgt Daniel Badger of the Cleveland and Durham Specialist Operations Unit via the non-emergency number 101.

A landlord who persistently failed to repair a decaying former hotel has been slapped with a whopping five-figure fine.

Rajesh Kumar Gupta must pay more than £15,000 after Teesside Magistrates' Court heard yesterday that he failed to repair roofing and guttering at the former Royal Hotel, in Loftus - despite several requests to do so.

He didn't show up to court and was convicted in his absence of failing to stop the former pub becoming an eyesore, after he'd been ordered to sort it out by Redcar and Cleveland Council in May.

Mr Gupta will now have to pay the maximum £100 fine for every day he'd failed to carry out the repairs.

This came to £14,900 with a victim surcharge of £170 and court costs of £408.98, bringing the total to £15,478.98.

This figure must be paid within 28 days.
