The volunteers from the Redcar RNLI lifeboats were called into action over the weekend.

At around twenty to seven on Friday evening one of Redcar RNLI's Atlantic 85 lifeboats was launched to a police incident on River Tees.

No further updates are available.

The entrance to a busy sixth-form college was blocked after a car crashed into the front of a house.

The grey Seat Leon smashed into the house on Avenue Place in Guisborough just before 4pm on Friday.

The small street contains the entrance to Prior Pursglove College in the town.

The street was been taped off, whilst the damage to the terraced house is assessed.

A direct train from Saltburn to Manchester has been given the green light to begin running in December 2019.

At the Transport for the North board meeting in Sheffield last week the panel of northern political leaders found time to agree that a TransPennine Express service should run all the way to the East Cleveland Coast.

It comes after members of the Saltburn Line Users Group and Middlesbrough South and East Cleveland MP Simon Clarke backed the idea to boost tourism , offer greater access to other towns and free up Middlesbrough Station.

Redcar and Cleveland Council also signalled its enthusiasm for a Manchester rail link earlier this year.
