Neighbourhood Officers in Redcar have used police powers to seize two motor vehicles in the town.

Police Community Support Officers responded to a call yesterday morning regarding a vehicle which had been abandoned on Coatham bridge.

The vehicle had no insurance and had been declared as being off road, resulting in the vehicle being seized.

Then yesterday afternoon another vehicle was located by officers on Grinkle Road in Dormanstown which had failed to stop for police the previous night again resulting in the vehicle being seized using police powers.

Officers are warning drivers that vehicle crime of any description will not be tolerated.

Police are appealing for the public's help following a burglary in North Ormesby.

The Vicarage on James Street, which is just metres from the market place, was broken into around midday on Saturday 30th June, while people, including children, were inside the house.

A small amount of cash was stolen from the address.

Anyone with information - including nearby householders with private CCTV which may have captured suspicious activity - is asked to contact PC Andy Hampson via the non-emergency number 101.

Police in Redcar have kicked off Operation Endurance, which is a week of action to target off-road vehicles.

Officers seized a quad bike late last night on Wilton Avenue in Dormanstown after it was sighted being driven recklessly at speed on Broadway West.

The quad was not road legal and had no insurance.

Anyone with information relating to nuisance vehicles is asked to contact police on the non-emergency number 101.
