...and MP for Redcar, Anna Turley, has announced that she is to host a charity gig in support of The Junction Foundation, who work with disadvantaged young people and young carers.

Plans to build 75 houses on the outskirts of Saltburn have been rejected.

The new homes on a site close to Saltburn Riding School had been recommended for approval by council officers provided certain conditions were met.

However at a meeting of Redcar and Cleveland Council’s Regulatory Committee on Thursday members disagreed saying the plans did not meet the requirements of the emerging local plan.

Members voted, nine votes to three, to reject the plans.

Police are warning football fans to keep off the pitch ahead of today's match between Middlesbrough vs Aston Villa.

The warning comes after last month's match against Millwall when fans invaded the pitch following Middlesbrough's win, which put thousands of spectator's safety at risk.

A spokesperson from Middlesbrough Football Club said that any repeat of the incident at the Millwall game could have serious consequences.

The club is requesting the cooperation and assistance of all genuine Boro supporters to prevent the type of behaviour that can damage the club's reputation.

MP for Redcar, Anna Turley, has announced that she is to host a charity gig in support of The Junction Foundation, who work with disadvantaged young people and young carers.

The Junction are based in Redcar and work with vulnerable and disadvantaged children and young people across Redcar & Cleveland.

One particular group of young people they support is young carers, who take on the adult pressures of caring responsibilities whilst their peers are out enjoying growing up.

Anna has teamed up with Teesside-based rock group, The Fire, who will be playing at Eston Labour Club on Friday 25th May to help raise money for the charity.

Tickets are £10 and available from Anna Turley's office.
