Witnesses said that the police vehicle was involved in the smash with another vehicle before going through a fence and into a telephone box.
Emergency services attended the scene of the crash which happened yesterday at about 5.15pm.

Marske United are celebrating after becoming Northern League Champions at the weekend.
The Seasider's match at Mount Pleasant against Newcastle Benfield on Saturday ended as a nil-nil draw, which means that Marske are crowned champions of the Ebac Northern League Division One.
Speaking after the match, Marske manager Carl Jarrett said that winning the title felt a lot better than a couple of years ago when Shildon lost it. This time we’ve won it in our own way in front of our home crowd. We’re the best team in the league and we proved that today.
