The Redcar RNLI lifeboat was tasked on Sunday 27 July 2014 after a small fishing boat suffered engine failure approximately 1.5 miles north of Saltburn.

The 15ft fishing boat, with three people on board, was drifting after the crew were unable to start the boat’s outboard engine. The crew raised the alarm by telephoning coastguards at Bridlington.

The volunteer crew of the Redcar lifeboat Leicester Challenge III launched at around 11.30am and quicky found the disabled craft and towed it back to Redcar.
