Emergency services were called to Ormesby yesterday afternoon after a car overturned on the High Street.

The incident, which involved a silver Peugot vehicle, happened around 4.20pm close to the Fountain pub, and near the junction of Church Lane in Ormesby.

It is currently not known whether any other vehicle was involved in the incident.

Two engines from Grangetown Station attended the incident, with crews working to free a man from the car.

The volunteer crew of the Redcar RNLI lifeboat were called into action at the weekend.

Just after ten to four yesterday afternoon, the crew responded to a call from a member of the public reporting a surfer in difficulties at Saltburn.

As the lifeboat crew were preparing to launch they received word that the surfer had managed to return to the shore unaided.

The crew stood down from the incident before the lifeboat was launched.
