Police are appealing to trace a missing 12-year-old boy who has not been seen since Thursday afternoon.

Rhys Wardle left an address on Missenden Grove in Middlesbrough after school and has not returned home or been in contact with family members, which is out of character for him.

Rhys is described as a white male, of medium build, around 5ft tall with red hair, blue eyes and he was last seen wearing black school trousers and a white polo top.

Anyone who may have seen Rhys or anyone who knows his whereabouts is asked to contact Cleveland Police on 101.

Redcar Coastguard Rescue Team has become the first in the North East to share a base with firefighters.

They have been formally welcomed to Redcar Community Fire Station by Chief Fire Officer Ian Hayton, Cleveland Fire Brigade and since moving in earlier this year have already attended nearly 50 incidents.

These have ranged from people floating out to sea in inflatable dinghies, fishing vessels with technical problems to vehicles stuck on the beach.

The new £1.4m state-of-the-art Redcar Community Fire Station was officially opened in 2011 and includes community meeting and training rooms as well as gymnasium and multi-sport activities room.

Funding included the Regional Improvement and Efficiency Partnership, the Primary Care Trust and the Youth Capital Fund Plus.

Redcar Half Marathon is taking place tomorrow.

Hundreds of competitors are expected to take part in the event, which gets underway from 9am in the morning.

As a result of the event, there will be a number of road closures around central Redcar, including the A1085 Coast Road from Marske High Street roundabout to Zetland roundabout at Redcar.

Other roads which will be closed include Green Lane, Granville Terrace, The Esplanade, Majuba Road, and Bridge Road in Redcar.

Newcomen Terrace will also be closed from the seafront to Majuba Road, and the A1085 Trunk Road from Kirkleatham Lane to Westgate Roundabout.
