A quarter of a million pounds worth of cannabis has been found in a Redcar home.

The haul was discovered in a house on Henry Street.

Officers raided the house yesterday and remained there all day, removing equipment and around 500 plants.

A 27-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of producing cannabis and is still in police custody.

Police are asking a driver to come forward after a collision with a cyclist.

It happened on Sunday morning between Dunsdale and Guisborough need Tockett’s Farm.

A silver taxi hit a 42-year-old cyclist, causing minor injuries and damage to his bike.

The driver left before the police arrived on the scene.

Any witnesses are asked to contact PC Dave Alcock on 101.

Police are warning cat owners to be wary after a cat was shot with a pellet gun and left paralysed.

The female cat called Ella was found on Sunday paralysed from the waist down in Skelton.

An x-ray showed she had a bullet lodged in her spine and she had to be put down.

Police are asking owners to make sure they keep an eye on their cats.

New figures have revealed that more that half of the house fires in Redcar & Cleveland are at homes without smoke alarms.

Between April and June there were 12 accidental house fires.

Only half of those had smoke alarms fitted.

Now Cleveland Fire Brigade are urging residents to have them fitted.
