A new scam involving council tax refunds is circulating the area.

Some local residents have been contacted about receiving a refund for overpaid council taxand asked to supply bank account information.

The council are now making it clear that this is a scam and that they will never contact people directly about bank matters.

An action group have been making progress in measures to prevent damage to Eston Hills.

The group was formed after a public meeting was held by Anna Turley in April to start thinking of ways to prevent it.

So far there has been an increase in police patrols and warning signs have been put up.

Since Easter the amount of arson incidents have dropped.

And police are holding three property marking events in Redcar.

Residents can get a free etching to help keep anything from bicycles to mobile phones out of the hands of criminals.

The first event takes place today at Rkade skate park between three and five o'clock.

There's another on Friday at Roseberry Square Library and Saturday at Route 1 Coffee House.
