Officers from Thornaby’s Integrated Volume Crime and Neighbourhood Teams have this morning arrested three people on suspicion of drugs offences after searching a house in Havelock Street in Thornaby.

Officers had attended the address in connection with an offence of theft from a motor vehicle within the Stockton area - for which the suspect was outstanding - and they arrested a 33 year old man for this offence. A subsequent search of the house revealed around £20, 000 of suspected cannabis and the man was further arrested for possession with intent to supply a class B drug.

Two women aged 57 and 33 were also arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis and the three remain in police custody facing questioning.

Det Sgt Dave Glass of the Volume Crime Unit said: “We are aware of the local community’s concerns about criminal activity and drug dealing in the area and I would like to reassure them that they will see a good deal of police activity in the area in response to issues raised.

"We always welcome information about offences in the area and would encourage residents to come forward if they believe they have information which could help police."
