Cleveland Police are appealing to the public to hand over any knives to police without fear of prosecution;
SABIC have apologised to members of the public in the vicinity of the Olefins plant at Wilton after flaring has been place over the past 24 hours;
...and police are trying to trace a missing man from the Redcar area.
Cleveland Police are appealing to the public to hand over any knives to police without fear of prosecution.
It comes as part of a national campaign to try and tackle knife crime.
It follows on from a successful campaign in May where one hundred and 72 knives and sharp objects were handed in.
Anyone with objects to surrender can put them in knife bins at the police station at Kirkleatham before the coming Sunday
Once items are surrendered they will be safely disposed of by police.
SABIC have apologised to members of the public in the vicinity of the Olefins plant at Wilton after flaring has been place over the past 24 hours.
The flaring that has been taking place on the plant is due to a compressor trip, and created a large plume of smoke visible from across Teesside.
The site maintenance team from SABIC were called in to action to resolve the issue.
Flaring is an essential safety system, and when it happens there is no risk to the general public.
However SABIC have apologised for any disturbance caused.
Police are trying to trace a missing man from the Redcar area.
24-year-old Jordan Hayden was last seen on the 26th of June getting into a white van in Stockton.
Police are concerned because it's unusual for him not to be in contact with his family for so long.
He's described as around 6 foot tall and of slim build with blonde hair, blue eyes and a tattoo on his left arm that says 'Freddie’.
There have been unconfirmed sightings of him in the Redcar area but police still asking for anyone who might have seen him to call them on 101.
